Deborah’s 20 years’ experience since graduating is both with cast glass and fused glass.

Deborah exhibits locally in Sussex, and is a member of the Sussex Guild.

She has been selected several times for the  British Glass Biennale and other national shows include Art in Action, the Contemporary Craft Fair, Bovey Tracey and Lustre in Nottingham.

Internationally she has shown in Lithuania and Belgium and was selected for the Coburg Prize 2014 in Germany. A piece was acquired for the Museum of Design and Contemporary Applied Art in Lausanne, Switzerland.

My aim is to share with you my passion for glass and enable you to create your own pieces. Once you have the basic skills you can then create and make your own designs with my support.

Course Times:

One day classes: 9/10am – 5pm Choose either to have lunch in the workshop with a PowerPoint presentation and lots of glass info or at Café Elvira across the road at Borde Hill Gardens.

Evening classes also available

One Day Fused Glass Workshops:

Coasters, Level 1:

This one day workshop has been designed to introduce beginners to fused glass.

Students will make a set of 4 coasters.

Techniques will include: glass cutting; casting plaster moulds to create texture in the glass; grinding the glass to fit and firing in the kiln.

Designs will be available, with a choice of coloured glass.

The emphasis will be on the craft skills necessary for students to create coasters to fire on completion of the class

Level 2:

Students choose to make either advanced coasters - square or round; or bowls - round, square or oblong or a double curve sculpture. The sculpture and the bowls include a second firing to slump the glass.

Designs will be more complex and can incorporate curves and circles.

Additional glass can be purchased for the larger pieces, prices available

Notes will be given for various firing schedules.

Once you have gained the skills further courses can be taken for you to realise your own designs and more ambitious projects such as wall panels and mirrors.

Half day taster coaster class:

A half day class which introduces you to all the techniques involved in making a textured fused glass coaster. Students will make 2 coasters
